1. Should I avoid alcohol the day of my treatment?
Definitely, but we recommend skipping alcohol for more than just the day of treatment. Alcohol dilates your blood vessels, increasing your risk of bleeding and bruising. To minimize your risk, it’s a good idea to avoid alcohol at least a few days before and after your injectable treatment.
2. Is exercise a no-no after treatment?
It’s a good idea to avoid vigorous exercise the day of your injectable session. This gives the injectable time to settle into your facial contours, preventing any unwanted migration to unintended areas of the face. Immediately following your injectables session, it’s also important to avoid anything having to do with extreme temperatures, such as saunas or skiing, which can diminish the effectiveness of your treatment.
3. Are injectables painful?
Botox and dermal fillers are well tolerated by millions of people every year. Dermal fillers contain lidocaine, which greatly minimizes potential discomfort. We will also apply a topical numbing cream to your skin before your session.
4. Will I have severe bruising and swelling?
Your risk of bruising depends on your body. Every person is different. If you tend to bruise easily, you are more likely to experience bruising from your injectable treatment. That said, there are ways to decrease your risk of bruising and swelling, including applying ice before and after your treatment, taking Arnica, an anti-bruising supplement, a few days before and after your treatment, and avoiding alcohol and NSAID pain relievers, which thin the blood.
