We asked Kim Marinetto, RN, owner and master aesthetician of AVIE! Medspa, Northern Virginia’s favorite medspa, for the “download” on aesthetics, skin care trends and life in general! Here’s the scoop:

Q: What inspires you most about your work?
Kim: The ability to help people, making a difference and building confidence in our clients’ lives.
Q: What does your skin care regimen look like right now?
Kim: I cleanse my skin twice a day (AM & PM) and use my favorite topical treatments, which are: SkinMedica^® TNS Essential Serum and Alastin^® Skin Nectar which help maintain and develop collagen and elastin in my skin. No matter the weather or time of year, I always use sunblock daily!
Q: Is there a product you’ve discovered that your staff is in love with?

Q: If you could give prospective clients a word of advice, what would it be?

Q: Is there a success story that stands out to you that you could share?
Kim: There are so many, as we have been in business for 11 years! Some examples that come to mind are when we help a client look as good as they feel. Many clients feel different than how their aging face looks. They come to AVIE! Medspa & Laser Center and we are able to provide options that remedy their physical appearance concerns. On a regular basis, we are blessed to have clients tell us how we have changed their lives for the better and how much they love their results.
Q: What’s the biggest trend in aesthetics right now?
Kim: I think millennials are changing the face of aesthetics, and they love their lips!
Q: Can a client reduce their downtime by doing certain things?
Kim: Absolutely, there are medical-grade skincare products that we will start clients on prior to a procedure to minimize downtime and accelerate results.
Q: Avoiding things, too?
Kim: Absolutely, with each procedure there are pre- and post-treatment requirements. For example, some procedures should not be done if you are planning on spending a lot of time in the sun. Other procedures require the patient to not use retinols prior and after for a specific length of time.
Q: OK, now let’s get to know a little bit about you outside of work — any hobbies or pets?
Kim: We have the best dog ever! His name is Cooper and he is a shih tzu. He is eight years old and he is our little buddy!
